Sukuma Wiki is a Swahili phrase meaning push the week. What is really being pushed is the family food budget to stretch a bit longer. Sukuma wiki is a mixture of kale, meat, spices and at times spinach to make a savory dish.
It can also be prepared without meat and be just as tasty. In such a case, it is flavored with beef bouillon cubes. It is a very popular meal among Kenyan families because of its simplicity and affordability. Sukuma Wiki is commonly served alongside Ugali.
